No doubt: Biochar offers a large variety of applications. The essential question is the quality to be achieved. The most interesting applications are in the fields, where biochar generates multi purpose effects, for example as animal food biochar.

Premium biochar does not only have positive consequences to health of livestock, but lowers also odor nuisance of liquid manure produced. Furthermore, used as a fertilizer additive on the farmland, it improves the soil quality and inhibits the formation of greenhouse gases.

Quality biochar is mainly used for the following purposes:

  • Food additive in animal farming (feeding char). It has been shown in several studies, that biochar does not only enhance feed intake, but supports also digestion and prevents many diseases.

  • Livestock bedding in animal farming (improved climate inside the stable, reduced smell and emission of ammonia, hydrogen sulfide, methane, favorable influence with respect to spread of pathogens)

  • Soil additive for formation of humus and nutrient carrier for soil substrates in agriculture (increased quality and productivity of the soil)

  • Additive for compost
