SPECIAL FEATURES The Swedish capital is pursuing ambitious environmental targets and is also focusing on PYREG® technology. Since 2017 the citizens of Stockholm can bring their green waste to various collection points in the city. There, the waste from parks and homes is turned into biochar with PYREG® technology. After that the citizens can take the biochar back into their gardens to improve soil and to promote plant growth in a natural way. In addition to this, by carbonising the biomass residues and storing the biomass into the soil the city can compensate carbon dioxide emissions of around 3500 cars. Part oft he project is also to use the excess energy which is created during the carbonization process and provide heat and hot water for more than 80 apartments in the city. The project has already received several awards.

SPECIAL FEATURES The municipal waste water treatment plant Linz-Unkel near Bonn (capacity: 30.000 p.e.) is the first commercial-scale plant in Germany using since 2015 the PYREG®-technology for the treatment of sewage sludge and recycling phosphorus. Around 18,000 m³ (700 t DS) of sewage sludge are treated with the new sewage sludge technology on-site Linz Unkel. After thermal handling there remains approx. 400 t p.a. of a phosphorus fertilizer, which can be delivered to fertiliser industry as raw material without further preparation.

SPECIAL FEATURES  140 WWTPs belong to the Waste Disposal Association Saar (EVS), they generate 650,000 cubic meters of sewage sludge each year, for which disposal costs of around € 6 million have been incurred annually. The innovative sewage sludge recycling process of a PYREG® facility reduces the amount of sewage sludge to be recycled by more than 80% compared to the pure sludge dewatering used to date.

Finzelberg produces over 800 different products for them. Finzelberg use innovative technoloy for the careful production of plant extracts, and also for the disposal of production residues. For example, recycling the remaining plant residues PYREG® technology to high-quality biochar.
